LISSA SCHNECKENBURGER

Song” (Footmark): A-

The lauded local fiddler-singer’s Celtic language stylings have always been informed by her Pine Tree State girlhood, so far her Down East common people reaches a freshly grade of grace and historical depth with “Strain.” A quietly scintillating CD that foxily enters the wood of ME with its loggers and lumbermen, these 18th and 19th century songs are arranged with verve. Contributions from New England aces Eric Merrill, Corey DiMario, Hanneke Cassell, Natalie Haas and Rushad Eggleston make this a regional jubilation.
