Naomi Campbell - Naomi Campbell Charged Over Airport Arrest

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been charged after her arrest on suspicion of assaulting a police officer at Heathrow last month.

The 37-year-old was detained at the airport's new Terminal 5 in April after a row broke out between the model and airline staff when she was informed that some of her baggage had been lost.

As a result of the row, police were called and Campbell was arrested, handcuffed and led off the plane, before being later released on bail.

She answered bail at Heathrow police station today (Thursday May 29th) and was charged with three counts of assaulting a police officer, as well as disorderly conduct and threatening behaviour towards a cabin crew member.

She will appear at Uxbridge magistrate's court on June 20th to answer the charges.

Campbell was banned from flying with British Airways (BA) after the airport scuffle, though her spokeswoman said at the time it was hoped the dispute could be "resolved amicably".

However, a spokesman for the airline said last month: "All incidents of abusive or disruptive behaviour towards fellow passengers or staff are taken extremely seriously and will not be tolerated.

"We deal with cases on an individual basis and take appropriate action where necessary."

Last year Ms Campbell was sentenced to community service in New York after being convicted of assault.

As punishment for throwing a mobile phone at her maid the model was made to clean toilets and sweep floors for five days.
